Daniel is a Principal at Heartland, leading the sourcing, transaction due diligence, underwriting, and future portfolio company activities for all of Heartland's private equity deals. Daniel has been a private equity investor since 2016. Prior to Heartland, Daniel spent 7+ years at Aterian Investment Partners, a NY-based private investment firm that today manages over $2.0B of committed capital investing in industry-leading, lower middle market businesses. At Aterian, Daniel completed 10+ transactions (platforms & add-on acquisitions) in businesses operating across niche manufacturing, general industrial, infrastructure services, distribution, and engineering services. Daniel targeted unique situations, including corporate carve-outs, underperformers and turnarounds, with an emphasis on family/founder partnership transactions. Given the firm's intense operational focus, Daniel worked daily across several portfolio companies to drive growth, cost and liquidity initiatives. 

Prior to Aterian, Daniel was a Senior Analyst in the Industrials Investment Banking group at Stifel, focusing on a broad range of advisory assignments across sellside/buyside M&A and strategic capital advisory.

Daniel received a B.A. in Economics / Entrepreneurship & Management from Johns Hopkins, where he was a 4-year starter on the men's basketball team. Daniel is a Louisville, KY native and currently resides in Brooklyn, NY with his fiancée.
